Dr. Phoebe Koundouri holds a PhD (2000), MSc (1996) and MPhil (1995) in Economics from the University of Cambridge (UK). She is ranked in the top 1.5% of all female economists in the world. She is the elected Vice President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists. She is Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Economic Studies, Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece) and the Director of the Research tEam on Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability (ReSEES). She is Senior Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment. Her research focuses on Environmental and Natural Resources Economics and Econometrics. She has published 12 edited books and more than 250 articles in edited volumes and top-ranked academic journals. She is co-editor of the official journal of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, associate editor and editorial board member in 17 academic journals in the field of economics. She is also Core Member of the Scientific Committee of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. She coordinated and/or participated in more than 50 research projects on natural resources and environment.

Nikitas Pittis

Dr. Nikitas Pittis is a Professor in Financial Econometrics at the University of Piraeus, Department of Banking and Financial Management since 2004. He has also worked as an Associate Professor in the same Department (2000-2003), and in addition as an Associate Professor (1996-2000) and Assistant Professor (1993-1996) of Economics in the Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus. Furthermore he has taught in the University of London (1989-1991) and in the ETH, Zurich (1993). He has been a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Department, Union Bank of Switzerland, Zurich (1992-1993) and a Research Officer of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research in London (1991-1992). Dr. N. Pittis has also been a member of the Council of Economic Advisers (SOE), for the Greek Ministry of National Economy. Professor Pittis has published extentively in academic journals such as Econometric Theory, Econometrics Journal, Econometric Reviews, Economics Letters, Journal of International Money and Finance, Canadian Journal of Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Financial Econometrics, etc. He has also been the coordinator of research programs, funded by various international institutions. His fields of interest are Financial Econometrics, Econometric Theory, Open Economy Microeconomics and International Finance. He is a referee in academic journals, he has supervised three completed PhD theses and a big number of Msc and undergraduate theses. Also, Prof. Pittis gave invited seminars to many academic and research institutions around the world

Eleftherios Levantis studied law and philosophy of law at the Universities of Heidelberg in Germany and Athens in Greece. He obtained his Masters Degree in Environmental Management specializing on management techniques for Protected areas.

He started his career as consultant in environmental law for the Hellenic Navy General Staff in 1992.Since then he worked as expert and consultant in Environmental law for various national or international organizations e.g. the European Public Law Center, of the University of Athens, the Council of Europe, the IUCN , the EU ,the Hellenic Navy General Staff, the Government of Cyprus, working as project coordinator for projects in the area of environmental law and policy in Europe (Penelope, Aperture, Eco – thesaurus, Romanos ), Cyprus, Poland, Bulgaria e.t.c. His main scientific interest concerns problems of management of mainly marine protected areas. He was the Greek rapporteur for the workshop on the implementation of Integrated Coastal Zone Management in the EU, organized by CRIDEAU in Boulogne sur Mer in Mai 2000. He is currently working on his Phd on management of protected areas. He is an Attorney at law and served as consultant for the former Secretary General for Attika region Michalis Kyriakidis and the Minster Deputy for Environment Thanos Moraitis. Currently the Legal Advisor to the Coordination Office for Environmental Damages , of the Greek Ministry for Environment (YPEKA).

Stella Tsani

Dr Stella Tsani holds a PhD in Economics and Business from the University of Reading, UK. Her research interests focus on resource economics, energy, development, political economy, macroeconomics and socio-economic analysis. She has led research in projects funded by the European Commission (FP7, Horizon 2020) and various Directorates (DGENV, DGENER), the World Bank, Revenue Watch Institute USA, etc. She has worked for the Centre for Euro Asian studies in the UK, Europrism in Cyprus, the Public Finance Monitoring Centre in Azerbaijan, the Bank of Greece, the Institute of Energy for South East Europe and the E3MLab at the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals including: Economics Letters, Resources Policy, Energy Economics, Economic Systems, etc.

Ebun Akinsete

Ebun is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Applied Social Studies, Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen), and Senior Partner with Nigerian-based consultancy GEN Sustainable Solutions.  With a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology, MSc in Project Management and PhD in Urban Regeneration and Sustainable Communities, she has several years of both industrial and academic experience in Europe, Asia and Africa; collaborating with governmental agencies, NGOs, aid organizations, academic institutions, the private sector and local communities.  Her main areas of interest are sustainable development, urban regeneration, SDG policy and implementation, community development, climate change mitigation, transition management, renewable energy, stakeholder participation, participatory planning, evaluation and impact assessment for sustainability, and sustainability in developing nations.

Nikos Mavrogiannakis

Nikos Mavrogiannakis, has received his BSc and MSc from the Physics Department of the University of Manchester (1994), where he developed a fiber optic and laser based radiation sensor by using sol-gel materials doped with storage phosphors. He continued his research at FORTH-IESL and ARTT (a FORTH-IESL spin-off company), where his work was associated with optical fiber, experimental set-up design, as well as study of properties and technical treatment. He participated to European projects like, BRITE/EURAM BE 5967 “OSMOS” (1992-1995), BCR 4075 “FRED” project (1994-1996), BRITE-EURAM BE-1524 “MONITOR” (1996-1999), been member of FOSEN, a European human network on fiber optic sensors. Since 2000 he became a senior partner of Lamda Technology Ltd. Since 2013 he collaborates with Athena RC in project administration.

Vassilis recently completed his PhD in Environmental Economics at the London School of Economics, UK. He also holds an MA in Economics from New York University and a BA in Finance and Banking from the University of Pireaus, Greece. Vassilis's research interest include applied environmental economics, econometrics and statistics, adult and non-adult subjective well-being, and environmental education. Currently he is a Research Associate with ATHENA Research Centre and the Research Team on Environmental and Socio-Economic Sustainability (ReSEES) in Athens University of Economics & Business.

Ioannis Souliotis is a PhD student in Environmental Economics at Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a MSc in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Copenhagen and a BSc in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is Affiliated Researcher at ICRE8, Affiliated Researcher at ATHENA.
