Isabel Muñoz

e-mail: [email protected]

Associate professor at the Department of Ecology at the University of Barcelona from 2001. She has extended expertise on stream and river ecology with special focus to the biology of invertebrates. This research has focused both on fundamental as well as on applied aspects and supported by national and European research projects. Recent work has been done on the effects of global change on stream communities in Mediterranean streams, ecotoxicology and water biological quality.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: She leads WP6-BIOL and the module receptors. She contributes to WP1-DATA, WP3-HYDROL, WP4-GEOMORPH, WP7-ECOSYSTEM, WP8-SERVICES, WP13-DISSEMINATION, and WP-14 MANAGE.

Full-time professor of Ecology. Expert on hydrology and biogeochemistry along fluvial. Professor of Ecology at University of Barcelona. Expert on hydrology and biogeochemistry along fluvial networks and and across the surface-subsurface interfaces across the surface-subsurface interfaces.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: He contributes to WP6-BIOL, WP1-DATA, WP3-HYDROL, WP4-GEOMORPH, WP7-ECOSYSTEM, WP8-SERVICES, WP13-DISSEMINATION, and WP-14 MANAGE.

Meritxell Abril

Graduated in Biology from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in 2009 and Master degree in Environmental Management and Restoration at the Universitat de Barcelona in 2010. Since June 2012 she is working at the Department of Ecology (UB) as a PhD student. Her research focuses in the study of global changes on organic matter dynamics in Mediterranean streams.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: She contributes to the WP6-BIOL and WP7-ECOSYSTEM.

Núria De Castro-Català

e-mail: [email protected]

Freshwater ecologist currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Ecology (Universitat de Barcelona). PhD in Fundamental and Applied Ecology (Universitat de Barcelona). Her research focuses on the ecotoxicological effects of stressors (e.g., emerging pollutants) in invertebrates, from the individual to the community level.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: She contributes to WP6-BIOL

Jordi-René Mor

e-mail: [email protected]

PhD student at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and the University of Barcelona (UB) under the supervision of Dr Sergi Sabater and Dr Isabel Muñoz. His research is focused on Mediterranean rivers and analyses the impacts of dams, which reduce flow variability , on the food-web structure and, the effects of wastewater inputs combined with flow alteration, that produce detrimental effects on the invertebrate communities and food web structure.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: He contributes to the WP6-BIOL and WP7-ECOSYSTEM.

Francesc Sabater

Twenty years of experience in watershed biochemistry studies, stream nutrient dynamics, hyporheic systems, and riparian zones. Main researcher of more than 10 national research projects, and 5 EU projects. Former coordinator of the EU project STREAMES.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: He contributes to WP6-BIOL, WP1-DATA, WP3-HYDROL, WP4-GEOMORPH, WP7-ECOSYSTEM, WP8-SERVICES, WP13-DISSEMINATION, and WP-14 MANAGE.
