Ralf Ludwig

e-mail: [email protected]

Ralf Ludwig is Professor in Applied Physical Geography and Environmental Modeling at LMU’s Department of Geography and Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences. He co-ordinated the FP7-project CLIMB and managed the CLIWASEC cluster of FP7-projects. He is a member of the European Climate Research Alliance (ECRA) and co-founder of the climate-energy-ecosystem research framework ABBY-Net. His research is focused on process-based and spatially distributed hydrological modeling at the catchment scale, data assimilation and model integration for water resources, land use and climate change impact assessment.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: In GLOBAQUA, he leads WP2-SCENARIOS and contributes directly to WP3-HYDROL and WP11-INTEGRATION.

Swen Meyer

Swen Meyer received his Diploma in Geography from the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2009 and is currently a PhD candidate at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (LMU). He is working as a project scientist in the GLOBAQUA project since May 2014. His responsibilities include scientific coordination, land use change modelling, and hydrological modeling. He was working as a project scientist in the FP7 project CLIMB (http://www.climb-fp7-eu/), responsible for hydrological modeling in the Rio Mannu and Rio Costara catchments, field data retrieval, data administration and project website administration from January 2010 to December 2013. His research is focused on the improvement and integration of high precision field data (soil properties) into physical based hydrological modeling at the catchment scale, data assimilation and model integration for water resources, land use and climate change impact assessment.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: In GLOBAQUA, he takes part in WP2-SCENARIOS and also in WP3-HYDROL and WP11-INTEGRATION.

Verena Huber García graduated at LMU in January 2014 with a M. Sc. in Environmental Systems and Sustainability - Monitoring, Modelling and Management. She received the B. Sc. in Physical Geography in 2011 also from the same university. Currently, Verena is a PhD candidate at the LMU.

Activities in GLOBAQUA: She is responsible for the land use change modelling in WP2-SCENARIOS, and contributes also to WP3-HYDROL and WP11-INTEGRATION.

Philip Marzahn

Philip Marzahn received his Diploma in Geography from the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2007 and his PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (LMU), Germany, in 2013. Currently, he works as an assistant professor (Habilitand) in the working group of Prof. Ralf Ludwig at LMU. He works on several national and international research projects in the fields of remote sensing and retrieval of bio- and geophysical parameters from multi-dimensional image data. His main research fields concern the retrieval of bio- and geophysical parameters from multi-dimensional remote sensing data and their assimilation in eco-hydrological land surface models.
