GLOBAQUA KICK-OFF MEETING

All the participants of GLOBAQUA met in Barcelona on 18-19 February 2014 for the project kick-off meeting. The event was organized by the project coordinator (IDAEA-CSIC). At the same time the steering committee and the advisory board met.

The consortium is composed of 21 European partners (France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and one Associated Country (Serbia), and 2 non-EU partners from Morocco and Canada belonging to Academia, Research and PMI. The institutional experience of the Consortium covers a range of disciplines: chemistry, biology, ecology, geomorphology, hydrology, economics and sociology, including hydrological, biophysical and ecological modelling, socio-economics and governance science, knowledge brokerage and policy.

The multidisciplinary, complementary and integrated demand-driven research is guaranteed by a consortium with partners from scientific and technical disciplines, already proven and tested on the different European projects and in dissemination of results (via patents, training, etc.). Bringing together researchers with strong international experience and end-users with key expertise in the region will allow to carry out the project activities. GLOBAQUA includes stakeholders and policymakers (Advisory Board) who will ensure that the project is highly relevant to end-user needs.
