Institution: Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ, Leipzig, Germany
Dr. Werner Brack is head of the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis. His research focuses on complex environmental contamination with a special emphasis on the development and application of integrated procedures for the isolation and identification of toxicants in environmental mixtures (such as sediments, soils, groundwater and surface waters). He used to coordinate the EU- funded Integrated Project MODELKEY (FP6, 2005-2010) and is presently coordinating the ITN EDA-EMERGE (FP7, 2011-2015) and the Collaborative Project SOLUTIONS (FP7, 2013-2018) both focusing on the identification and assessment of emerging pollutants. Werner Brack is heading the Working Group on EDA in the European Network on emerging pollutant NORMAN. He has published about 90 ISI listed papers with more than 1900 citations.
Involvement in GLOBAQUA: He is member of the GLOBAQUA Advisory Board, and supports the collaboration GLOBAQUA - SOLUTIONS

"Dr. Dahm is a Professor in the Biology department and Director of the BioAnnex Analystical Laboratories. He is an ecosystem ecologist with expertise in restoration ecology, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, hydrology, climatology and aquatic ecology, and emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches required for understanding aquatic ecosystems. He has served as Lead Scientist for the Delta Science (CALFED Bay-Delta) Program, Director of the Freshwater Sciences Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program (IGERT) at UNM, Program Director for the Division of Environmental Biology of the National Science Foundation, President of the North American Benthological Society (Society for Freshwater Science), and as interim director of the Sevilleta LTER program. Institution: Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro, Spain
"Degree in Biology and Doctor by the University of Zaragoza. Superior technical of the Water Commission in the Ebro River Basin Authority (Spain). At present, Head of the Department of Control of the Ecological Status within the Quality Water Area at this Organism. In her area of work, she is involved in the management and development of studies on the control of biological quality of surface waters –rivers, lakes and dams-in the Ebro basin and the development of biological indicators to implement the Water Framework Directive in this basin. She has coordinated numerous works to manage the spread of zebra mussel pest, besides other invasive alien species present in the Ebro basin. During her professional activity, she has given many talks, participated in round tables and attended to a great variety of conferences of environmental matter, as well as to be author in more than 50 scientific articles.
Involvement in GLOBAQUA: Her participation in GLOBAQUA will help to facilitate the relationships between the different stakeholders involved in the management of water as a scarce resource in the Ebro basin, and to provide descriptive data of their water bodies and other variables of interest (physico-chemical, biological, hydrogeological data,...) which will allow to evaluate the effect of different stressors on water quality and other factors affecting it.
